I initially dreamed up the idea behind Insider Daddy after the most emotional year of my life, as more of a coping mechanism to be perfectly honest, than something I believed I would ever follow through with.
You see, my journey into fatherhood started beautifully when my daughter was born, but my joy was short lived, as my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few short months later. Within a calendar year, I went from celebrating my daughter’s birth, to burying my mother.
Simply put, I was baptized into fatherhood under heavy fire.
Not only was I trying to find my way as a first-time father, I also had to take care of a terminally ill parent. That’s not exactly a combination I would wish on any new dad, but that was my reality. However, the tragedy I experienced gave me a great appreciation for life and a unique insight into fatherhood that I have used as the inspiration behind Insider Daddy.
Believe me though, I wasn’t always a confident father, but I have grown from a frightened and confused new father, into a very self-assured one. A dozen years in the trenches of fatherhood will do that, especially when you aren’t afraid to constantly challenge yourself to be a better dad. However, my journey to this point has hit plenty of potholes and roadblocks that I had to stumble around.
That is exactly why I created this site – to help you avoid the mistakes I made as a new father and give you the kind of self-confidence boosting knowledge that will help you to become a great dad!
